First Trailer for José Padilha’s ROBOCOP Remake

RoboCop KinnamanThe first full-length trailer for director José Padilha’s upcoming RoboCop remake has been released online.  I’m too young to have a real connection with the original three RoboCop films, but it was something that I always enjoyed watching as a kid.  That being said, I think that’s the reason why I was impressed with the new trailer for the 2014 remake – as many fans are griping on the internet about the newest iteration of the franchise.  One thing that can be said is that the film is sure to offer fans plenty of nods and callbacks to the 1987 original while offering a new take and spin on the character.  Joel Kinnaman stars as Alex Murphy, a charismatic police officer in Detroit in the year 2028 who is offered the opportunity to become part man, part police officer after being critically injured in the line of duty.  Hit the jump to check out the trailer.
