Guillermo del Toro Unveils PACIFIC RIM WonderCon Footage

PACIFIC RIMThe response to the Pacific Rim footage screened by Warner Bros. and director Guillermo del Toro at WonderCon earlier this year was extremely positive.  Although the footage was meant to be screened only at WonderCon, del Toro and WB have decided to release the new trailer after fans were clamoring to see more of the monster epic.  The trailer boasts a great deal of new footage with immense amounts of action between the man-made jaegers and the monstrous Kaiju.  Along with new footage, the trailer also gives us our first look at Charlie Day‘s character.  Early reaction from those fortunate enough to have seen the film has been overwhelmingly positive, and the film really looks amazing from a visual standpoint.  Hit the jump to take a look. Three New Clips from Nicolas Winding Refn’s ONLY GOD FORGIVES Starring Ryan Gosling

Only God Forgives Ryan Gosling 2Three brand new clips from director Nicolas Winding Refn‘s heavily anticipated follow up to the critically acclaimed Drive, Only God Forgiveshave been released online.  With the film expected to make its premier at the Cannes Film Festival a few weeks from now, be on the lookout for a lot moreinformation regarding the latest team up between Refn and star Ryan Gosling.  Gosling stars as Julian, a man living in exile in Bangkok after killing a cop.  Julian runs a Thai boxing club as a front for a drug smuggling operation when things take a turn for the worse after his brother is murdered, and his mother instructs him to “raise hell.”  Aside from the trailers released for the film, these clips give us a great look at what to expect – like Drive, it looks like Gosling’s Julian will be very similar to the quiet, but violent Driver.  The clips suggest that the film’s dialogue may be a little more vulgar than Drive, but it’s ultra violence may go right in line with Refn’s previous work.  We only get a good look of Julian in action during the first clip, but Kristen Scott Thomas looks electrifying as Julian’s mother.  Hit the jump to take a look. Two New International Trailers for Nicolas Winding Refn’s ONLY GOD FORGIVES Starring Ryan Gosling

Only God Forgives Ryan Gosling - CopyTwo new international trailers for director Nicolas Winding Refn‘s much anticipated follow up to his critically acclaimed Drive have been released online.  Starring Ryan Gosling, Only God Forgives centers on Julian, a man living in exile in Bangkok after killing a cop.  Julian runs a Thai boxing club as a front for a drug smuggling operation when things take a turn for the worse after his brother is murdered, and his mother instructs him to “raise hell.”  The new trailers show us a little more of the film’s plot than the latest domestic red band trailer, and they are simply fantastic.  We also get a much better look at Kristen Scott Thomas as Julian’s mother.  I am such a huge fan of Drive, so I am so looking forward to this.  Gosling is also coming off one of the best performances of his career in The Place Beyond the Pines, and he has been one of Hollywood’s hottest commodities over the past two years.  Along with the new trailers is a new neon lit poster for the film.  The film is also rumored to premier at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival next month.  Hit the jump to take a look. CHRIST 2.0 Released Online

JesusNow I don’t usually do this, but I had to show some love and support for two of my long-time friends.  John Corbett, his brother K.C., and John Langley have teamed up for a little project for John’s Visual Concepts class at Towson University.  Titled Christ 2.0, the 10- minute short film saw various changes in its script during production, which K.C. went on to describe as “freestyle comedy”.  The film focuses on the lackluster second coming of Jesus (John) and a day in the life of his faithful personal assistant, Alex Anderson (K.C.).  There are plenty of laughs to be had in this one – maybe we could send it over to the Academy for a nomination in Best Live Action Short Film?  Hit the jump to take a look and offer your support! – and get a dose of the #NewTweetstament. First Trailer for THOR: THE DARK WORLD Starring Chris Hemsworth & Natalie Portman

The Dark World Chris Hemsworth 2The first trailer for the second installment in Phase Two of the Marvel cinematic universe has been released online.  Thor: The Dark World pits Thor (Chris Hemsworth) up against a shadowy enemy threatening to destroy Earth and the other Nine Realms.  I enjoyed the first film, but I feel like I wasn’t as overly impressed as some others were.  Cinematically, I think The Dark World looks better than its predecessor.  If you were a fan of the first film, you’ll really love this trailer.  Loki’s (Tom Hiddleston) introduction is also a very nice touch adding a bit of information on where we will see the God of Mischief in this post-Avengers film.  Hit the jump to take a look. First Official Images of Jamie Foxx & Dane DeHaan from THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

The Amazing Spider-Man Banner 2Director Marc Webb has been hard at work on production of the much anticipated sequel to his Spidey reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man 2.  Webb has been very active on social media when it comes to keeping fans up to speed on the shoot.  We’ve seen a flurry of amateur set photos – including a look at Jamie Foxx‘s villain, Electro.  Webb and star Dane DeHaan took to twitter the other day to give us the first official looks at Max Dillion (Fox) and Harry Osborne (DeHaan).  The image of Dillon is before his physical transformation into the luminous villain – a look that is drastically different from the comic iteration of the character.  Hit the jump to take a look. First Clip from STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS

Star Trek Into Darkness Zachary Quinto - CopyThe first clip has been released online from Paramount Pictures’ JJ Abrams-directed sequel Star Trek Into Darkness.  The clip features footage of Zachary Quinto‘s Spock that was briefly seen in previous trailers for the film.  In the clip, Kirk (Chris Pine) and the Enterprise crew are discussing how to go about rescuing Spock from a volcano on the verge of eruption.  The crew are also wearing some pretty snazzy outfits too.  It’s really hard to believe how close we are to the film’s release, so keep an eye out for a few more clips from the film.  Hit the jump to take a look.   Read the rest of this entry

IMAX Poster for IRON MAN 3 Unveiled

Iron Man 3 RDJ 4 - CopyIMAX and Disney have come together to release the latest poster for Marvel’s upcoming superhero flick, Iron Man 3.  The poster is just the latest in IMAX’s “12:01” series, wherein fans who attend the midnight premier of the film will receive a free copy of the print.  The poster, designed by artist Jock – who also designed the Mondo print for The Dark Knight Rises – is very cool and much more impressive than the underwhelming IMAX poster previously released for the film.  Unfortunately, this IM3 print will be the last installment of the IMAX “12:01” series, which is disappointing.  Hit the jump to take a look! Six New Images of Ryan Gosling from THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES

The Place Beyond the Pines Ryan Gosling Eva Mendes 3 - CopySix new images from the Derek Cianfrance-directed The Place Beyond the Pines featuring star Ryan Gosling have been released online.  While the film has already seen its expanded theatrical release, I wanted to share these new images because I absolutely adored the film – you can read my review here.  All six of the new images feature only the film’s electric lead, Ryan Gosling.  The images are a little more artistic than the previous stills that have been released for the film as they have a bit of a different look and tone.  Gosling brought one of the best performances of his career to the film, and if you haven’t seen it yet, try your best to get to the theater and check it out.  Also, a new critic focused TV spot has been released as well.  Hit the jump to check out the new images.   Read the rest of this entry
