Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Death Proof, Inglourious Basterds – it’s hard to prove whether or not writer/director Quentin Tarantino has made a “bad” movie.  Basterds saw rousing success with Oscar recognition, and Pulp Fiction is widely regarded as one of the best films of all time.  Tarantino’s last outing, Inglourious Basterds, was a relentlessly violent and grandiose original take on World War II clashing fantasy and history. New Trailer for Baz Luhrmann’s THE GREAT GATSBY – Plus New Character Posters

The Great Gatsby BannerThe holiday film lineup for 2012 is already packed with great films.  Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of the famous F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, The Great Gatsby, was initially slated for Christmas day.  Can you imagine that?  Django Unchained, Les Misérables, and The Great Gatsby would have hit theaters on the same day, what a merry Christmas that would’ve been.  The film was eventually pushed back by Warner Bros. “to ensure this unique film reaches the largest audience possible.”  The newest trailer showcases most of the headlining actors, and shows off some pretty unique visuals.  Along with the trailer are some brand new character posters.  Hit the jump to check them out. First Trailer for Michael Bay’s PAIN AND GAIN Starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson

Pain and Gain Poster 2Today, the first trailer for Michael Bay’s Pain and Gain was released by Paramount Pictures, and it looks pretty damn promising.  Surprising enough, the trailer doesn’t feature any crazy explosions in grand Michael Bay fashion or anything like that.  Pain and Gain is based on a true story and follows two bodybuilders (Wahlberg, Johnson) who get caught up in a kidnapping scheme.  All in all, I was pretty impressed with the trailer, and Wahlberg and Johnson look like they could be quite the comedic duo on screen.  Hit the jump to check out the trailer. Star Trek Into Darkness Teaser Poster 2A little less than two weeks ago, the first teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness was released.  Also, less than a week ago, the 9 minute IMAX preview for the film released in front of IMAX showings of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.  A few days ago, a brand new full-length teaser trailer for Star Trek hit the web (you can thank finals week at school for me not being able to post it earlier).  The trailer features a voice-over from Bruce Greenwood’s Pike, telling Kirk “there’s greatness in you, but not an ounce of humility.”  The rest of the trailer showcases stunning visuals and action that J.J. Abrams has promised to deliver.  Hit the jump to check out the trailer. Read the rest of this entry

Final Trailer for Kathryn Bigelow’s ZERO DARK THIRTY

Zero Dark Thirty DecemberThe final trailer for Academy Award winner Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty has hit the web today.  The trailer showcases Jessica Chastain’s performance, which is already receiving high praise from critics.  There is a great deal of new footage in the trailer and it’s packed with new dialogue as well.  The best part of the trailer may be the choir singing their rendition of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” over top of the footage.  As the release date slowly approaches, I can’t wait to finally see this film.  Hit the jump to check out the trailer. 2013 Golden Globe Nominations Announced – LINCOLN Leads way with Seven Nominations

Golden Globes LogoThe nominations for the 2013 Golden Globes were announced earlier this morning.  The Hollywood Foreign Press Association issues the nominations for the Golden Globes, and there weren’t many surprises.  Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln stands at the head of the pack with seven nominations, while Ben Affleck’s Argo and Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained come in just behind Lincoln with five nominations each.  Other movies that have been praised by critics thus far like Zero Dark Thirty and Silver Linings Playbook received their due as well.  The biggest surprise was probably Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, with nominations in Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Motion Picture for the Comedy/Musical category.  Hit the jump for a full list of nominations. First Trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM – Plus New Poster

Pacific Rim KaijuThe first full-length trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming sci-fi flick Pacific Rim has been released.  With a lot of hype behind the film, the first trailer certainly delivers.  Showcasing amazing visuals, the scope of the film looks massive.  Pacific Rim finds humanity at war with giant monsters called “Kaiju.”  The only way to defend themselves against the Kaiju, humans must create massive robots for combat – hence the tagline of the poster “to fight monsters, we created monsters.”  Hit the jump to check out the new trailer and poster! New Full Length Trailer for Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL

Man of Steel Henry CavillI may be a tad late on this, but you can thank finals week for that.  Yesterday, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures released a brand new full-length trailer for Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman flick, Man of Steel.  The trailer definitely shows a great deal of realism, highlighting what it might be like if an individual like Superman existed in today’s world.  There are some shots of action, but the trailer really showcases the dark and gritty take on the character, which is what most of us expected.  From everything that has been released thus far, it looks like MOS is going to turn out to be a great film.  There are a lot of big names attached to the production of this (i.e. Christopher Nolan, David S. Goyer are behind the story), so I have some really high hopes.  Hit the jump to check out the full trailer! Read the rest of this entry
