New Trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn’s ONLY GOD FORGIVES Starring Ryan Gosling

Only God Forgives Ryan Gosling 2A brand new trailer for director Nicolas Winding Refn‘s Only God Forgives has been released online.  The film was met with some mixed reviews at the Cannes Film Festival a month ago, but hopefully some changes have been made to help the film play a little better.  Gosling stars as Julian, a man living in exile in Bangkok after killing a cop.  Julian runs a Thai boxing club as a front for a drug smuggling operation when things take a turn for the worse after his brother is murdered, and his mother instructs him to “raise hell“.  The film looks much more stylized than Gosling and Refn’s Drive, but it looks every bit as bad ass.  The trailer highlights much of the revenge storyline and Cliff Martinez’s score.  Hit the jump to take a look! Three New Clips from Nicolas Winding Refn’s ONLY GOD FORGIVES Starring Ryan Gosling

Only God Forgives Ryan Gosling 2Three brand new clips from director Nicolas Winding Refn‘s heavily anticipated follow up to the critically acclaimed Drive, Only God Forgiveshave been released online.  With the film expected to make its premier at the Cannes Film Festival a few weeks from now, be on the lookout for a lot moreinformation regarding the latest team up between Refn and star Ryan Gosling.  Gosling stars as Julian, a man living in exile in Bangkok after killing a cop.  Julian runs a Thai boxing club as a front for a drug smuggling operation when things take a turn for the worse after his brother is murdered, and his mother instructs him to “raise hell.”  Aside from the trailers released for the film, these clips give us a great look at what to expect – like Drive, it looks like Gosling’s Julian will be very similar to the quiet, but violent Driver.  The clips suggest that the film’s dialogue may be a little more vulgar than Drive, but it’s ultra violence may go right in line with Refn’s previous work.  We only get a good look of Julian in action during the first clip, but Kristen Scott Thomas looks electrifying as Julian’s mother.  Hit the jump to take a look. Two New International Trailers for Nicolas Winding Refn’s ONLY GOD FORGIVES Starring Ryan Gosling

Only God Forgives Ryan Gosling - CopyTwo new international trailers for director Nicolas Winding Refn‘s much anticipated follow up to his critically acclaimed Drive have been released online.  Starring Ryan Gosling, Only God Forgives centers on Julian, a man living in exile in Bangkok after killing a cop.  Julian runs a Thai boxing club as a front for a drug smuggling operation when things take a turn for the worse after his brother is murdered, and his mother instructs him to “raise hell.”  The new trailers show us a little more of the film’s plot than the latest domestic red band trailer, and they are simply fantastic.  We also get a much better look at Kristen Scott Thomas as Julian’s mother.  I am such a huge fan of Drive, so I am so looking forward to this.  Gosling is also coming off one of the best performances of his career in The Place Beyond the Pines, and he has been one of Hollywood’s hottest commodities over the past two years.  Along with the new trailers is a new neon lit poster for the film.  The film is also rumored to premier at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival next month.  Hit the jump to take a look. The Place Beyond the Pines Ryan Gosling Eva Mendes 3 - CopySix new images from the Derek Cianfrance-directed The Place Beyond the Pines featuring star Ryan Gosling have been released online.  While the film has already seen its expanded theatrical release, I wanted to share these new images because I absolutely adored the film – you can read my review here.  All six of the new images feature only the film’s electric lead, Ryan Gosling.  The images are a little more artistic than the previous stills that have been released for the film as they have a bit of a different look and tone.  Gosling brought one of the best performances of his career to the film, and if you haven’t seen it yet, try your best to get to the theater and check it out.  Also, a new critic focused TV spot has been released as well.  Hit the jump to check out the new images.   Read the rest of this entry

Review: THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES

The Place Beyond the Pines Ryan Gosling - Copy

Writer-director Derek Cianfrance’s The Place Beyond the Pines is a riveting and compelling drama that shows us why he is one of the most innovative, ambitious, and gifted new directors in all of filmmaking.  This wisely crafted epic is a gripping portrayal of the unbreakable bond between fathers and sons that approaches heights of Shakespearean artistry wrapped in the weight of a Greek tragedy. First Red Band Trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn’s ONLY GOD FORGIVES Starring Ryan Gosling

Only God Forgives Ryan Gosling 2The first red band trailer for the Nicolas Winding Refn directed thriller Only God Forgives has been released online today.  Ryan Gosling stars as Julian, a man living in exile in Bangkok after killing a cop.  Julian runs a Thai boxing club as a front for a drug smuggling operation when things take a turn for the worse after his brother is murdered, and his mother instructs him to “raise hell.”  The red band trailer is surprisingly light on the blood and gore, but it is absolutely implied.  The trailer is played under eerie, but fitting, Thai music – much like Drive’s unique 80’s style synth-pop soundtrack.  If Only God Forgives is anything like Drive, then it will undoubtedly be one of 2013’s best films.  I’m so damn excited to see more.  Hit the jump to take a look.
