Disney’s fantastical trip down the yellow brick road, Oz The Great and Powerful, hits theaters tomorrow. The studio is expecting big numbers this opening weekend, which is no surprise considering the popularity of its predecessor and up-charges for IMAX and 3D. That being said, Disney is looking forward to returning to the land of Oz with a sequel. Reports suggest that screenwriter Mitchell Kapner has been commissioned by Disney to pen the screenplay for the follow-up. Oz The Great and Powerful is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, so has many options on where to go with the sequel. Also, you can read my review for the film here. Hit the jump to read more. We’re just two short weeks away from the release of Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful. And with that, we are treated to two new clips from the film. The first clip involves a heated exchange between Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Theodora (Mila Kunis) regarding whether or not Oscar (James Franco) “is the wizard.” The second clip showcases the landscape of the world Raimi has brought to life as we see Oscar and Glinda (Michelle Williams) travel through the landscape by bubble. Super Bowl TV Spots for STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, IRON MAN 3, THE LONG RANGER, FAST & FURIOUS 6, and More!
Super Bowl XLVII is now in the books, and I couldn’t be happier about my beloved Baltimore Ravens bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Baltimore. Seeing that my favorite and hometown team was in the game, I was a little too stressed at times to pay attention to all of the commercials and TV spots for some of this year’s big upcoming films. Thankfully there’s YouTube that can provide all of us a chance to watch all of these great spots over, and over, and over again. Hit the jump to check out spots from Star Trek Into Darkness, Iron Man 3, Fast & Furious 6, Oz: The Great and Powerful, and many more! Read the rest of this entry
Some new posters for Oz: The Great and Powerful, Les Misérables, and Zero Dark Thirty have been released. The Oz poster is actually the final third to the triptych poster (which you can see here) that was released a little over two weeks ago. The Les Misérables poster is pretty cool, seeing that it is the French version of the poster. The Zero Dark Thirty poster is likely to be the last one released before we see the film hit theaters. Both Les Mis and Zero Dark Thirty were screened for the first time for critics within the last week, and both already have loads of Oscar buzz surrounding them. Hit the jump to check out the posters. A new full length trailer for director Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful has been released today via iTunes Movie Trailers. After the release of several new images over the last few days (which you can see here and here), the new trailer comes as no surprise. The trailer features a bevy of new footage and delves a little deeper into the plot of the film than the teaser trailer did. Being from the producers of Alice in Wonderland, the special effects of the film look more in line with that than with Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy. Hit the jump to check out the new trailer. Yesterday, I posted six new images for Oz: The Great and Powerful via USA Today. Today, Yahoo! Movies released a brand new triptych poster (pictured above) for the film. A “triptych” is a work of art divided into three sections, the three sections making up the poster above were released separately about a month ago. Once again, the poster showcases the giant scope of Raimi’s Oz. With the bevy of recent images released by Disney, hopefully a new trailer isn’t too far away. Hit the jump to see the images. Earlier this morning, Disney released six new stills from director Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful via USA Today. The film is set to be a prequel to the classic The Wizard of Oz, and with only a teaser poster and one trailer being released so far, these new images give us a good look at the scope of the film. Oz is focused on the character Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a struggling magician working in Kansas who is thrown in the middle of an ongoing battle after being transported to Oz. Some images feature characters in action, while two images showcase the massive landscapes seen in the film. Hit the jump to see the full images.
