Two New International Trailers for Nicolas Winding Refn’s ONLY GOD FORGIVES Starring Ryan Gosling
Two new international trailers for director Nicolas Winding Refn‘s much anticipated follow up to his critically acclaimed Drive have been released online. Starring Ryan Gosling, Only God Forgives centers on Julian, a man living in exile in Bangkok after killing a cop. Julian runs a Thai boxing club as a front for a drug smuggling operation when things take a turn for the worse after his brother is murdered, and his mother instructs him to “raise hell.” The new trailers show us a little more of the film’s plot than the latest domestic red band trailer, and they are simply fantastic. We also get a much better look at Kristen Scott Thomas as Julian’s mother. I am such a huge fan of Drive, so I am so looking forward to this. Gosling is also coming off one of the best performances of his career in The Place Beyond the Pines, and he has been one of Hollywood’s hottest commodities over the past two years. Along with the new trailers is a new neon lit poster for the film. The film is also rumored to premier at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival next month. Hit the jump to take a look.
Only God Forgives is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, stars Ryan Gosling and Kristen Scott Thomas and is reported to hit theaters on July 19th, 2013.
“Time to meet the Devil.”
Julian (Gosling) lives in exile in Bangkok where he runs a Thai boxing club as a front for the family’s drugs smuggling operation. When Julian’s brother Billy is killed their mother, Jenna (Kristen Scott Thomas), arrives in the city. She wants revenge and forces Julian to find the killer. Julian’s contacts in the criminal underworld lead him directly to The Angel of Vengeance, a retired police officer who knows everything and who is both Judge and Punisher. Jenna demands that Julian kill The Angel of Vengeance, an act that will cost him dearly.
