JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie in Trouble – WB Possibly Looking For New Writers
Warner Bros. superhero mash up Justice League is back in the news today, and not for the right reasons. After Marvel and The Avengers cracked the $1 billion mark last summer, it looks like WB is starting to feel the pressure. I couldn’t help but be extremely disappointed when news broke today that Warner Bros. is reportedly scrapping Will Beall’s script. I’m not saying that I’m disappointed because I’m a Will Beall fan or anything – I thought Gangster Squad’s script was less than stellar – I’m just disappointed because it’s starting to look more and more like the Justice League movie may not happen for a long time. Within the last two weeks, we’ve heard that the core members of the film would be Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and The Flash – this came as no surprise. We also learned that the fate of Justice League was resting on the shoulders of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.
According to Badass Digest, multiple sources have reported the script that Will Beall (Gangster Squad) penned for Justice League was being thrown out by WB. Sources also reported that Beall’s script was “terrible,” which is a gigantic disappointment. The script supposedly included Darkseid as the villain and a “heavy cosmic threat.” BD also notes that one of the primary reasons that the studio can’t land a director is because the script was so poor.
At this point, it’s highly unlikely that we will see a Justice League film in 2015. We’ll see how MOS does this summer, as I know many fans, including myself, are very excited to see if Zack Snyder can bring Superman back to glory.
All in all, it’s a very disappointing day for DC fans. We’ll see if more details pop up in the coming months.
