ARGO Wins Best Picture at 2013 Producers Guild Awards

Argo Movie Poster - CopyBen Affleck and his critically acclaimed film, Argo, continue to have success around this year’s awards circuits. Last night, the Producer’s Guild of America awarded Argo with their highest honor – Best Picture. Argo has now won Best Picture and Director at the Golden Globes, received the award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Motion Pictures from the Directors Guild of America, and now Best Picture from the Producer’s Guild of America – the film is also nominated for Best Picture at the 85th Academy Awards. I’m still baffled by the fact that Affleck wasn’t nominated for Best Director by the Academy, so it’s great to see the film getting this much praise. Hit the jump for the full list of winners at last night’s PGA Awards.

It will be interesting to see how Argo will fare at next month’s Oscars. The last time a film won Best Picture without a Best Director nomination was in 1989, and that honor went to Driving Miss Daisy. With Argo picking up these major awards over the last month, there is no doubt that it will be a serious Best Picture contender in a field that is already chock-full of stiff competition. Also, we’ll see how the film does at tonight’s Screen Actors Guild Awards.
