ABC’s Nightline Special With Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal on Zero Dark Thirty
Director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal brought us a rousing drama that followed an elite bomb squad unit in 2008’s The Hurt Locker. This winter, the Academy Award winning duo has teamed up yet again to bring us the story of the greatest manhunt in history. ABC’s Nightline aired a special exclusive sit-down with Bigelow and Boal to discuss the film. We all know the outcome of Zero Dark Thirty, but the director and screenwriter want to show you how it all came to be. Hit the jump to check out the video.
Zero Dark Thirty has had buzz around it ever since it was said to become a film because of it’s touchy subject matter. Some people, including myself, were afraid that a film based on the capture and killing of Osama Bin Laden may have been a bit too soon. The film screened over the weekend for critics for the first time and has been met with extremely positive reviews regarding Bigelow’s direction and Jessica Chastain’s performance. It looks like Bigelow may have proved yet again that she is a woman dominating a man’s game.

For a decade, an elite team of intelligence and military operatives, working in secret across the globe, devoted themselves to a single goal: to find and eliminate Osama bin Laden. Zero Dark Thirty reunites the Oscar(R) winning team of director-producer Kathryn Bigelow and writer-producer Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker) for the story of history’s greatest manhunt for the world’s most dangerous man.
