New Promo Poster for Only God Forgives Features Ryan Gosling
Ever since star Ryan Gosling and director Nicolas Winding Refn teamed up for Drive back in 2011, fans have been dying to see what the duo could bring us next. Well here you go, next up is Only God Forgives – which, from what I’ve been hearing, is basically Drive set in Bangkok, with a lot more blood. I thought Drive was one of the best films of 2011, so I am very excited to hear that they are nearing the end of post-production for Only God Forgives. Earlier today, a promo poster (which can be seen below) has surfaced as part of the first footage shown by the head of the Cannes Film Festival, Thierry Fremaux. Hit the jump to check out the new promo poster and read some description of the new footage.
I’m going to leave a description of the footage shown earlier today off of my post just to avoid some spoilers, because I know some of my readers get mad about stuff like that! If you’d like to read the full description, head over to Ain’t it Cool News. What I will do, is give you the new promo poster featuring a battered and bruised Ryan Gosling – sorry, ladies. From what I read about the footage, it seems very Drive-esque. Featuring a quiet, but violent, Ryan Gosling, and an awesome synth-pop soundtrack, Only God Forgives should be just as awesome as Refn’s previous work.
Only God Forgivesis directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, stars Ryan Gosling and Kristen Scott Thomas and will hit theaters some time in 2013.
Bangkok. Ten years ago Julian killed a cop and went on the run. Now he manages a Thai boxing club as a front for a drugs operation. Respected in the criminal underworld, deep inside, he feels empty.
When Julian’s brother murders a prostitute the police call on retired cop Chang – the Angel of Vengeance. Chang allows the father to kill his daughter’s murderer, then ‘restores order’ by chopping off the man’s right hand.
Julian’s mother Jenna – the head of a powerful criminal organization – arrives in Bangkok to collect her son’s body. She dispatches Julian to find his killers and ‘raise hell’.
Increasingly obsessed with the Angel of Vengeance, Julian challenges him to a boxing match, hoping that by defeating him he might find spiritual release… but Chang triumphs. A furious Jenna plots revenge and the stage is set for a bloody journey through betrayal and vengeance towards a final confrontation and the possibility of redemption.
