Skyfall Dominates the Weekend Box Office

1. Skyfall $87.8 Million

2. Wreck-It Ralph $33.05 Million

3. Flight $15.1 Million

4. Argo $6.7 Million

5. Taken 2 $4 Million

I don’t think that this comes with much surprise, but in its opening weekend here in the U.S., Skyfallbrought in $90 million (with Thursday screenings included). The previous best opening for a Bond film was turned in by Casino Royale back in 2006 with $67.5 million. Skyfall’s huge opening makes it the fourth highest domestic debut of the year behind The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Hunger Games. Skyfall’s worldwide gross is now at an impressive $518.6 million and is poised to be the first Bond film to break the $1 billion barrier.

Dropping down to the number two spot this week is Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph, which debuted at number one a week ago. Wreck-It Ralph turned in a total of $33 million this weekend, bringing it’s domestic total a little shy of $100 million. Ralph’s worldwide total is now up to $120 million after 10 days.

Paramount’s Flight racked up a total of $15.1 million in its second weekend in theaters, bringing the domestic total to $47.7 million.

Despite being in theaters for five weeks already, Ben Affleck’s Argo still finds itself in the top five weekend box office numbers. Argo brought in $6.7 million this weekend, bringing it’s domestic total to $87.7 million.

Rounding out this weekend’s top five at the box office is Taken 2. With $4 million this weekend, Taken 2 now has a domestic total of $131.2 million, and a worldwide total of $338 million.
